O’Connell
Vineyards is located in the Vine Hill region of Sonoma County’s Russian
River Valley. Owners Jan and Dan O’Connell are committed to excellence
and high standards. They express this in their Pinot Noir estate vineyards
and wines. History - Apples and Winegrapes The O’Connell family has been producing exceptional
quality apples in Sebastopol since 1913. In 2002, Jan and Dan planted
Pinot Noir to the rich Gold Ridge soil of their Vine Hill Road ranch. In
2006, they harvested their first vintage and produced 300 cases of
incredibly smooth, silky Pinot Noir, along with a small lot of a crisp,
dry Pinot Noir Rosé. They have now harvested the 2011 crop for their sixth
vintage. Commitment To Excellence 2010 Pinot Noir The 2010 vintage was hand-crafted from our south vineyard.
This vineyard is slightly lower in elevation than our north vineyard and
the clay/gravel soil is covered with 12 to 18 inches of Gold Ridge Sandy
Loam. This vineyard reaches maturity five to seven days later than our
north vineyard and produces rich elegant Pinot Noir with soft mouth feel
and a long delicate finish. We do not blend our wine with any other
clones. It is 100 percent Pommard aged in medium toast French oak barrels
for eleven months. Sales and Mailing List The O’Connell Vineyards wines are offered exclusively at our vineyards, through our mailing list and wine club, at Vine Hill House special events, and at select wine purveyors. Join our mailing list and wine club to insure these incredible wines are reserved for you.
